I am a mature woman going on a cruise to the caribbean. I need suggestions on what type of swimsuit to wear for a thin person with skinny legs.

wear a normal swimsuit...only jus not shapy.that will do good

forget it.

Three band-aids would work for me. Other than that, when you get to your first port, check out what mature women are wearing and get something like they wear. There are soooo many styles and looks that everyone should be happy with whatever you choose. Have a great trip!

On the Speedo website, they're sized like dresses: 4, 6, 8. But on Amazon, they're sized 32-40. Does this refer to bust size?

They don't work. Many manufactures of clothing size them according to their own concept of what the number verses sizing should be.

You have to carefully read their measurement details, and do a calculation of different parts of your body in order to come up with "their description in the sizes" available.

You'd be better off getting a suit in person at a store, not online. Tjmaxx usually has a good selection of suits.

Each manufacturer has it's own way of sizing. So you can be a 4 in one and a 10 in another.

It is even the same way for men with pants even though they are SUPPOSED to be measured by inches (32,34,36...) if you actually measure you will find clothes made in the US are actually larger than that.

WHY?

It's a subliminal thing to think you are smaller than what you really are.

Now to answer your question...

Women's swimsuits SHOULD have TWO sizes for a bikini. The size of the suit (which corrosponds to an actual range of sizes) and the bust size which would be the 32-40.

If by normal swimsuit, you mean bikini, then yes, they are different. What size you are depends on you measurements, mostly height, weight, and bust. Use this chart:

and figure out your size depending on what brand you are looking at buying.

OK. Usually you are going to go down 1 pant size but this will feel snug. Competitive suits will grow when wet. They are sized as follows: 24 size 0 pant, 26 size 2 pant, 28 size 4 pant, 30 size 6 pant, 32 size 8 pant, 34 size 10 pant, 36 size 12 pant, 38 size 14 pant and 40 size 16 pant. The majority of average sized women will wear a 28-32. Roughly it is supposed to be chest size but not really. In hs I wore a size 26 weighed 145 lbs and wore a size 4-6pant at 5'9. In college I wore a 30 165lbs size 8-10 pant. As a swim instructor I wore a 34 size 14 pant 185lbs. Dolphin suits run smaller, shorter torso, nike is real skimpy in the rear and narrow in the chest. Tyr runs more conservative

My grandma needs to swim about 3-4 times a week to help her arm. She has had many swimsuits but they didn't actually fit her age. Plus they wore out really quickly because of chlorine. Is there an online place or someplace that sells swimsuit styles for older woman ( and ones that can last longer in chlorine ). Thanks!

Look for Speedo "Endurance" suits with the "conservative" leg cuts. "Endurance" is a fabric that doesn't wear out due to chlorine. Finis brand may make a few suits in a similar fabric for less money, but not in any conservative styles that I know of.

if you go to swimco they usually have people that can help you, and lots of bathing suits, im sure you would be able to find one there. :)

I went to Target, Macys, Hecths, to find some bras and a new swimsuit and I can barely find my size. I'm a 36 DDD and it's so hard for me to find a nice and cute bra that comfortable, inexpensive, and colorful. AND NOT A GRANNY BRA! I'm tired of store making bras for women with itt-bitty-tiites. They all the girls with small breasts get the cutest and colorful bras. As for the swimsuit, I have a nice body. I have a perfect hourglass shape, and a 25 in waist and I want to wear a 2 piece but nothing can with my big butt and my big chest. Why does the world only cater to flat chested and flat butted women?

Men have the same issue (accept for the totally opposite reason). All the clothes available for men are for tall and bulky guys. Everything else for us shorter fellas looks just childish. I have seen what you are talking about too. When I went shopping with her for a bra she first went into Victoria Secret and they told her they don't carry her size. They said she was a 32 DDD or something and so she had to go to another store. They did have a bunch of granny looking stuff and I told her I didn't like most of it. I guess society has an idea of what they want men and women to look like and so they cater the majority (or what they want the majority to be).

This is kinda funny. I never can find a good swimsuit, either, although my problem is different. I'm an A cup with wide hips and a small waist. Everytime I get a small bra, the lower piece it's too small and when I get a bigger lower piece, the bra comes big. That's ironic!!

They are made that way becuase the majority of women have smaller breasts.

Because most of the bras are made over seas where women naturally have smaller breasts.

OK! this is the reason. there is a conspiracy by the girl watchers club, to make the tops of bikinis and bras for women with smaller breasts, therefore since you cant find your size, you buy the smaller top, which hardly fits you, and so the sport of girl watching, is at a high, watching you falling out of your bikini top, so dont complain about it, We are not..

36 DDD is pretty big...you have to get it customized thats why. Most stores sell D's to DD's but ive never seen a DDD.

Your big butt and big chest looks vulgar all exposed and walking around in a two piece bikini swimsuit.

If you are a 36 DDD, with a 25'' waist and a big butt, trust me, you will only get negative attention from both men and women. And children don't need to see all that meat either.

Your "perfect hourglass shape" is probably fat and nasty in the eyes of others at the public beach or pool, so cover yourself and stop trying to flaunt what you think is sexy.
